This Cancer Nurse Coordination Service is a free statewide service for people living with cancer.
How can the Cancer Nurse Coordination Service help you?
A diagnosis of cancer can be a worrying time for patients, their family and friends.
The Cancer Nurse Coordination Service is a team of specialist nurses located in both metropolitan Perth and rural regions of Western Australia. They can support you by:
- assisting you through the health care system and finding the best services to help you and your family
- acting as a central point of contact
- coordinating appointments
- providing and explaining information on your diagnosis and treatment
- liaising and linking with other services both within your treating hospital and the wider community.
The service is available Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 4.30pm (excluding public holidays).

The WA Psycho-Oncology Service (WAPOS) provides clinical psychology care to adult Western Australians who are affected by cancer.
Patient Assisted Travel Scheme
The Patient Assisted Travel Scheme (PATS) provides a financial subsidy towards the cost of travel and accommodation for eligible permanent WA country residents only travelling long distances to seek certain categories of specialist medical services.

Interstate Patient Travel Scheme
The Interstate Patient Travel Scheme (IPTS) provides travel and accommodation support to permanent WA residents who need to travel interstate to obtain essential, specialist medical treatments that are not available in WA.
The IPTS covers travel expenses such as return economy airfare from the patient’s place of residence to the interstate health care unit, reasonable accommodation, taxis to and from the airports and in some circumstances for Health Care Card holders, a living away allowance.
