COVID-19 update – 5 July 2020

The Department of Health has reported six new cases of COVID-19, bringing the State's total to 618.

The six new cases are all returned overseas travellers currently in hotel quarantine.

The six new cases, four women and two men aged between 40-64, were all passengers on a flight from Dubai which arrived in Perth on 1 July and returned positive test results following WA Health screening conducted on day two after their arrival.

All the new cases are returning Western Australians from the metropolitan area.

The Department of Health is interviewing all passengers on the flight, who are also all in hotel quarantine, to ascertain if there were any close contacts to the newly diagnosed cases onboard.  Flight details and the close contact rows in question have been uploaded on the HealthyWA website.

There are now nine active cases in Western Australia. To date, 600 people have recovered from the virus in WA.

Yesterday 290 people presented to WA COVID-19 clinics, and of these 282 were assessed and 280 were swabbed.

Visit WA Health’s HealthyWA website for the latest information on COVID-19.

Note: An updated breakdown of cumulative COVID-19 tests performed in WA will be released on Monday.
