COVID-19 update – 30 May 2020

The Department of Health has reported no new active cases of COVID-19 overnight; however, the State’s total now stands at 586 after one historical case was identified through serology testing.

This historical case is no longer infectious and does not carry any risk to the public of WA.

The historical case is a crew member from the Al Kuwait. Serology testing was performed on the man to determine whether his previous illness had been COVID-19, as part of a thorough investigation to determine potential sources of the cases on board the Al Kuwait.

All of the 48 crew members from the Al Kuwait have been tested. The 10 crew members on the ship have all tested negative to active infection.

There are 25 active cases in Western Australia. Of the active cases, one is a Western Australian, four are from interstate and 20 are from overseas.

To date, 552 people have recovered from the virus in WA.

There are no confirmed COVID-19 patients in Perth hospitals.

Yesterday 772 people presented to WA COVID-19 clinics, and of these 719 were assessed and 713 were swabbed.

To date there have been 89,202 COVID-19 tests performed in WA. Of those, 15,326 tests were carried out in regional WA.
