The Department of Health has reported 17 new cases of COVID-19 overnight, bringing the State’s total to 52.
The new cases include 10 males and seven females aged between 22 and 73. They include the first confirmed case in regional WA.
The confirmed regional case is in South West WA and as with all cases, contact tracing is currently underway for this case.
The Department is still undertaking thorough contact tracing and at this time can confirm five of the confirmed cases recently returned from overseas, including the UK, USA, France, Netherlands, New Zealand, Austria, Finland, Sweden, Norway and Germany.
Relevant flight details will be uploaded to the HealthyWA website as contact tracing is completed.
To date 7956 Western Australians have tested negative to COVID-19. All cases notified so far have been associated with overseas travel.
We reassure the WA community that WA Health is taking every available measure to help protect Western Australians and to ensure we are prepared to steadfastly manage community-based spread here.
Anyone who has travelled overseas must now return home and self-isolate for 14 days. This means you must not leave your property – to go to the shops, walk the dog or go to the gym.
The Health Department reiterates the best way people can protect themselves and others is to practise good personal hygiene and social distancing.
Where possible you should also try to keep at least 1.5 metres from others and refrain from physical contact such as shaking hands and hugging.
