Expressions of Interest - PathWest and Health Support Services Boards

The Expression of Interest submission period closes on Thursday, 30 January 2020 at 5.00pm (WST).

In accordance with the Health Services Act 2016, the Minister for Health seeks Expressions of Interest from suitably qualified and credentialled persons for the following governing boards:

PathWest is the pathology and forensic arm of the WA public health system and Western Australia’s leading referral pathology laboratory with a network of 27 laboratories and 76 collection centres across the State.

Health Support Services (HSS) is the shared services centre for the WA public health system. HSS provides a suite of services that includes Information and Communications Technology (ICT), financial, procurement and supply and employee and payroll services to support WA public hospitals and health services to deliver excellent health care.

Successful applicants will be experienced Directors, with significant and relevant experience related to the Board role for which they are nominating.

Board meetings will be held at least monthly and members will be eligible for remuneration.

Eligibility criteria

  • Where applicants are currently employed in executive positions in a public hospital including as a chief executive, executive director, co-director or head of department, careful consideration will be given to the conflict between work duties and board duties before accepting applicants for a dual-role.
  • Health Service Provider (HSP) employees and other public sector employees will need to seek secondary employment clearance from their current employers consistent with public sector policy.
  • Appointment to only one HSP board is permitted (i.e. no multiple appointments).

Ineligible for board membership

  • Employees of the WA Department of Health and the WA Mental Health Commission.
  • Individuals employed by, or serving on boards of organisations having material contractual relationships with the HSP.
  • Employees of Western Australia’s HSPs, including contracted employees, are ineligible for board membership for the HSP in which they are employed.
  • Appointment to only one HSP board is permitted (i.e. no multiple appointments).
