Aboriginal Liaison Service

Aboriginal Liaison Officers (ALOs) offer services to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders families with children and young people attending Perth Children's Hospital (PCH).

Aboriginal Liaison Officers can help you in the following ways:

  • offer social, practical, cultural support and advocacy
  • work with your child’s health care team to ensure culturally appropriate care
  • work with you and your child’s health care team to ensure you are informed and involved in all aspects of your child’s care
  • talk with health and/or community based carers about follow-up care if required when you leave PCH.

At PCH we are guided by the advice of the Aboriginal Health Leadership and Advisory Committee (AHLAC) and the advice of the WA Health Cultural Learning Plan.

Through the Cultural Learning Plan, PCH fosters a workplace that supports and respects the knowledge of our Aboriginal staff, you as the primary care giver of your child, and your family.
