Chancroid (soft sore)

  1. Isolation of Haemophilus ducreyi from a clinical specimen

    or

  2. A clinically compatible illness in a patient who is epidemiologically related to a laboratory confirmed case, where syphilis, granuloma inguinale and Herpes simplex virus (HSV) have been excluded as the only cause of the ulcers.
